Derby of Serbia
Derby of Serbia (Serbian: Derbi Srbije/Дерби Србијe, French: ''Derby de la Serbie'', German: ''Derby Serbiens'', Spanish: ''Derby de Serbia'', Italian: ''Derby d'Serbia'') refers to the football derbies between the professional Serbian clubs Red Star and Partizan from Belgrade and Vojvodina from Novi Sad. It specifically refers to individual matches between the teams from Belgrade against the team from Novi Sad. The sporting rivalry comes about that they are the three most successful clubs in Serbia and the three most successful Serbian clubs in the former Yugoslavia. Besides, Belgrade and Novi Sad are the two largest cities in Serbia, and the derby is viewed as a manifestation of them. They won also as the only Serbian clubs the Yugoslav championship and all three clubs are in the Top 5 of the Yugoslav First League all-time table.〔(Yugoslavian first league all-time table )〕 Red Star Belgrade finished as 1st, Partizan Belgrade as 2nd and Vojvodina Novi Sad as 5th the all-time table.〔(Yugoslavian first league all-time table )〕
Especially in the last years developed Vojvodina as a serious competitor for the two Belgrade clubs to the Serbian Championship and Serbian Cup. Vojvodina defeated in the recent years, home and away, several times the two clubs from Belgrade. Due to the constant successes of the last years, Vojvodina became the third absolute power, after Red Star and Partizan, in Serbian football. In addition to the Eternal derby, where meet the two Belgrade clubs Red Star and Partizan and therefore belongs to the Belgrade derbies, the Derby of Serbia with its two individual sporting rivalries is one of the most important Serbian derbies.
